Veteran actor Seema Deo is no more. Filmmaker Abhinay Deo’s mother, veteran actress Seema Deo passed away on Thursday morning due to age-related ailments. She was popularly known for her roles in Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Anand and Kora Kagaz. The veteran actress was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for over three years. She took her last breath at her Bandra home. She was 81.
Seema Deo passes away
Filmmaker Abhinay Deo, who shared a close bond with his mother, told PTI, “She passed away at 8.30-9 am at her residence in Bandra due to old age. She had just been withdrawn completely, and eventually it is just old age. Alzheimer’s is such a thing that you stop figuring out how to function. She had dementia leading up to Alzheimer’s and she was suffering from it for over three years.”
The filmmaker further added, “There is no specific reason for her death. Due to Alzeihmer and dementia, the person forgets how to walk. The muscle memory stars coming down and one by one the organs start shutting down.”
Over the years, Seema appeared in films like Anand, Koshish, Saraswatichandra, Kora Kagaz, Sunehra Sansar, Naseeb Apna Apna, and Bhabhi Ki Chudiyan among others.
For the unversed, Seema’s husband Ramesh Deo, who was also a big name in Hindi as well as Marathi cinema, passed away last year. He died in 2022 at the age of 93.
Seema is now survived by two sons – Ajinkya Deo and Abhinay Deo. Abhinay has featured in films such as Sansaar, Indrajeet, and Aan: Men At Work. Apart from that, he has directed films like Delhi Belly and Force.
