Vicky Kaushal is currently busy promoting his upcoming film ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ with Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani. Vicky plays the titular role. The trailer was released a few days ago and it received a good response. For the uninitiated, Varun Dhawan was first offered the role of Vicky. The film was then reportedly titled ‘Mr. Lele’. The makers had also announced Varun as the male lead. However, he later walked out of the film and the role went to Vicky Kaushal.

Now, in a recent interview, Shashank Khaitan revealed the reason Varun walked out of the film. Speaking with Indian Express, Shashank said, “Nothing went wrong. After the lockdown, we were all trying to redesign our careers and figure what we want to do. I also feel that with Varun and me, the pressure is very high when it comes to our collaboration.”

Shashank went on to share that even though Varun was first supposed to do the film, he had Vicky Kaushal in mind. Vicky couldn’t come on board at that time as he had multiple films. Talking about him, he said, “In a very funny way, this film, when I had written it for the very first time, I had Vicky Kaushal in mind. But at the time Vicky was shooting multiple films.”

Govinda Naam Mera is slated to release on Disney Plus Hotstar on December 16th.
