A complaint has been filed in Mumbai, Maharashtra, against popular social media personalities Ranveer Allahbadia known as ‘BeerBiceps’, Apoorva Mukhija—known as ‘The Rebel Kid’—and comedian Samay Raina. The complaint alleges the use of ‘abusive language’ during an episode of the show ‘India’s Got Latent’.

FIR filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija & Samay Raina

The complaint was submitted to the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, calling for strict action against the accused. Other content creators, including Ashish Chanchlani and Jaspreet Singh, also appeared in the controversial episode alongside the ‘BeerBiceps’ podcaster.

The incident gained attention when Allahbadia asked a contestant a provocative ‘would you rather’ question concerning sexual relationships between parents. His comments quickly went viral, sparking outrage among netizens.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis reacts to the FIR news

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was questioned by reporters regarding Allahbadia’s remarks. He acknowledged hearing about the situation but stated, “I have not seen it yet. Things have been said and presented in a wrong way. Everyone has freedom of speech, but our freedom ends when it infringes upon the rights of others.

He added that Indian society has certain norms, and violating them is absolutely wrong, underscoring the need for appropriate action.

Fans react

Reactions from social media users were swift. One commented, “Freedom of speech is a double-edged sword. Sadly, it sometimes allows for the propagation of mediocrity and shock value masquerading as content.” Another user suggested, “People show their true colors on shows like these. Ranveer has done nothing that he isn’t comfortable with; his mask has simply slipped.”

One user on X expressed, “This is neither comedy nor adult humour; it’s a sick perversion!” Congress leader Supriya Shrinate also condemned Allahbadia’s remarks, stating, “This isn’t creative. It’s perverse. Normalizing such behaviour is concerning, especially when a sick comment is met with loud applause.”

No reaction from Beer Biceps, The Rebel Kid or Samay Raina

So far, neither Ranveer Allahbadia nor any other creators involved in the episode have publicly commented on the controversy. Notably, at last year’s National Creators Award held in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented Allahbadia with the title of ‘Disruptor of the Year.’
