An FIR was filed against actor and social activist Sonu Sood for violating the orders of the Moga sub-divisional magistrate returning officer Satwant Singh. Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika Sood Sachar is the Congress candidate of the Moga assembly constituency.
Sonu was directed by the officer to stay back at his residence as he did not have a vote in Moga. But Sonu seemed to have violated the order. The actor was seen at the polling booth when the voting was going on.
Talking about the situation, Satwant Singh said, “I had directed Sonu Sood to remain in his house because he is not allowed to move in the area as he doesn’t have a vote in Moga constituency. But he violated the direction.” The case was registered against Sood under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code on Sunday in Punjab’s Moga district.
Reacting to the complaint, Sonu told ANI, “We got to know of threat calls at various booths by the opposition, especially the people of Akali Dal. Money being distributed at some booths. So it’s our duty to check & ensure fair elections. That’s why we had gone out. Now, we’re at home. There should be fair polls.”
