Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic period drama ‘Padmavati’ was originally supposed to release on December 1, but has been postponed for an indefinite period by the makers now. The reason behind it is something that everyone knows. Shri Rajput Karni Sena and several other organisations across the country have been opposing the film ever since the shoot started. After ‘Padmavati’ was postponed from its original release date, there were a few other Bollywood films that locked this release date, or the period around it. Among them, one is Kapil Sharma’s upcoming film ‘Firangi’ which has now been postponed by a week from its original release date which was on November 24.
Kapil Sharma carries a dual responsibility as an actor and producer for his film ‘Firangi’, but recently he actually confessed that he is indeed not happy with the shift in the release date of ‘Firangi’, i.e. from November 24 to December 1. Currently, Kapil Sharma is busy with the promotions of the film and it was during one of the group media interviews where he opened up about this. When the actor-producer was asked about his film coming on the day when ‘Padmavati’ was supposed to release, he replied, “We are like one family, whether Deepu (Deepika Padukone) comes first or we, what difference it make (smiles off). But, whether the film is a big budget venture or a small budget one, it takes equal hardwork and strength, that of various crew members, including the stars, to make it happen. We are certainly not happy that we are coming with ‘Firangi’ on December 1. The movie was anyway releasing on November 24. But, unfortunately it’s very sad, whatever is happening. It shouldn’t have been (referring to ‘Padmavati’ controversy). But, now what can be done.”
Talking about the film ‘Firangi’, it stars Ishita Dutta and Monica Gill playing the female leads. It marks the directorial debut of Rajiev Dhingra in Bollywood. The film is slated to release on December 1, 2017.
