Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has finally given a go-ahead for his biopic. Ganguly, who is currently BCCI president, confirmed it during an interview with News 18 Bangla. “Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to reveal the name of the director now. It will take some more time for everything to be finalised,” he said. Reportedly, Ranbir Kapoor is one of the top contender to essay Ganguly on the silver screen.
The biopic will show Ganguly’s cricketing journey till he becomes BCCI president. It is apparently made on a budget of Rs 200 to Rs 250 crore, News 18 stated in a report. There are speculations about superstar Ranbir Kapoor essaying Ganguly in the film. However there has been no official confirmation about the same.
Last year, Sourav had spoken about rumours of Hrithik Roshan playing him onscreen. The biopic that will trace the journey of Sourav Ganguly from his younger days as a cricketer right till he became the President of the BCCI. The film will be similar to other sport biopics that have been released in recent years and will supposedly have a budget of around 250 crores.

According to reports, Sourav Ganguly was approached by various production houses for his biopic. From Ekta Kapoor to Fox Star Studios, have expressed their wish to make a film on his life. But he always rejected the offer. It is said that Viacom has convinced him to do the biopic under their banner.

This will be the 4th biopic on an Indian cricketer to have released and Ganguly will join the list of MS Dhoni, Mohammad Azharuddin and Sachin Tendulkar.
