Varun Dhawan is really enjoying this current phase of his career by getting to do something different apart from the usual kind of roles. After giving an outstanding performance this year in Sriram Raghavan’s ‘Badlapur,’ where his role was more serious compared to his light roles in rom-com like ‘Student of the Year’ and ‘Dilwale’, Varun is one of the stars to balance with different genres, so there might be an addition in this with a different kind of role for this actor. Let’s find out more detail.
Apparently, Varun Dhawan has been offered a role of a gangster in a film based on the gang wars of 1990’s. The role which has been kept in mind for Varun is of Feroz Konkani, a dreaded gangster who was a close associate of D – Company controlled by Dawood Ibrahim. Feroz Konkani had an involvement with many high profile murders including one of music baron Gulshan Kumar.
The association of crime and underworld with films is not new, many actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt have seen huge popularity after playing gangsters in movies like ‘Agneepath’ and ‘Vaastav: The Reality’ respectively. According to the sources some trial scenes have been shot of the assassination of Gulshan Kumar in the same location where this incident took place. The film has been planned to shoot on real locations itself.
The makers have been in talk with Irrfan Khan as well for the role of Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria who had arrested Feroz. But neither Irrfan nor Varun have been confirmed to be a part of this project.
So, till the confirmation is done the fans have to wait for this chocolate boy hero to turn a bad and dreaded gangster on-screen.
