Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani’s 2013 production Fukrey emerged as a sleeper hit on its release. The film became a cult classic over the years and led to a sequel being made. This year, the series expands with Fukrey 3 and after a lot of back and forth, it has got a new release date.
Fukrey 3 gets preponed
The film has had a journey of its own with its release dates. First it was announced to arrive on September 7, 2023. But when Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan was pushed from June 2 to September 7, Farhan and Riteish pushed their film to a December 1 release. However, soon after, Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal was postponed from August 11 to December 1, putting the buddy comedy up for another clash.

Finally, the makers have zeroed in on a new release plan. The film has now been preponed to September 28, 2023. Prabhas starrer Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire was supposed to release on this date, but recent reports suggest that it might get postponed. So, the comedy might get an open window. However, an official confirmation is awaited from Salaar makers.
Fukrey 3 details
The third part of the Fukrey franchise sees the return of its major characters played by Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, Pankaj Tripathi and Richa Chadha. Ali Fazal is the only major character not returning. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, he had revealed why. The actor shared that he didn’t have dates when the film was being shot. Director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba also returns to helm of the film.
