Utkarsh Sharma compares Gadar 2 and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 clash with Barbie & Oppenheimer

The much awaited sequel of 2001 cult film Gadar:Ek Prem Katha is all set for release on 11 August 2022. Gadar 2 stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma in pivotal roles. On the same day, Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 will also release in theatres. Reacting to the box-office clash, Utkarsh Sharma in a recent interview compared Gadar 2 and OMG 2 clash with Barbie and Oppenheimer.

Utkarsh Sharma reacts to Gadar 2 and OMG 2 box-office clash

In an interview with a news portal, Utkarsh was asked his opinion on Gadar 2 locking horns with OMG 2 at box-office. He said, “It’s good that these two films are releasing together. Akshay sir ki film hai aur Akshay sir ke toh hum bhi fan hai. (It is Akshay Sir’s film and I am a big fan of him.) I’m so happy about the fact that their censor issue was going on and I’ve heard it’s now resolved. It should be celebrated. The way Barbie and Oppenheimer came together and it was a celebration.”

He further said, “Gadar and Lagaan came together and it was a celebration. That’s what the audience is missing – ‘cinema ka joh mela laga rehta tha’ (Cinemas are lined up like a fair), that’s what people are missing. The film’s purpose to entertain the audience is much bigger than the controversies or negativity. I think it’s important to create that vibe again in the theatres and it would be better for the industry on the whole. I wish them all the best. Akshay sir is playing Mahadev in the film and the way I see it is, our film will have Mahadev’s blessings too.”

Directed by Anil Sharma, the trailer of Gadar 2 has been recieving rave response ever since it was unveiled by the makers. This time, Suuny Deol as Tara Singh will be seen going to Pakistan to save his son Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma).
