Gimmicky and mismatched: Priyanka disappoints us with this look at TIFF 2017

If you’re a dusky-complexioned woman, you must have been warned a million times that bright colours that border on neons are a big no-no. They say, “Why would you want to look darker than your actual colour?” Well, just for going against this stale advice and flaunting her confidence in this neon pink outfit on Day 2 of Toronto International Film Festival 2017, Priyanka scores brownie points, for sure.

The 35-year-old actress, along with her proud mother Madhu Chopra, was there to promote her first Assamese movie production, ‘Pahuna’, which is the fourth regional movie produced under her banner Purple Pebble pictures. While we were excited to see what she had in store for all the fashion aficionados out there, and we landed up dreading over this bright pink Fendi ensemble for more reasons than one.

Her attire that had white stripe detailing all over included a short, collared jacket with flared cuffs, and a long, pleated skirt that featured a side slit. She paired it with a delicate Nirav Modi necklace and the much out-of-place black, studded, lace-up boots that were not in sync with the mood of the crisp separates. Priyanka opted for sleek ponytail, hot pink lips and blushed cheeks.

While we don’t really have a problem with the pretty Fendi silhouette, the exquisite necklace or her makeup, we’re just trying to wonder why all of those mismatched elements (that stand pretty on their own) were thrown in together to rustle up one solid look by stylist Cristina Ehrlich. Why would the actress wear such an overly bright, matching Dior lipstick with an already intense outfit? A lighter colour would have definitely toned down the loud look. And let’s not even get to how offended we are with those ankle-length, studded black boots. Well, we’re huge fans of all things eccentric. But again, let us reiterate that the boots may have looked hot with a rock-chic avatar (maybe with a leather jacket or sporty mini dress), but certainly not with this sophisticated glam vibe.

But let’s give it to the lady for breathing life into her mismatched look with her million-dollar smile, the endearing mother-daughter moments, her energetic persona, and oodles of confidence.
