Google Doodle celebrates Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s 67th birthday

Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is paid tribute by Google Doodle on his birth anniversary today. The legendary singer was born on October 13, 1948, in Lyallpur, Punjab. Nusrat had delivered his first public performance at a very young age and enthralled the audience with his reverberating voice.

Google on Tuesday paid tribute to iconic qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan with a customized doodle on his birthday. The doodle features Khan singing with other qawwals. A click on the doodle would take you to a number of pages providing information on the legendary qawwali singer.

Born in Pakistan, Khan passed away of a cardiac arrest on August 16, 1997. He is known to have popularised Qawwali. Khan had travelled to many countries of the world and was also awarded the UNESCO Music Prize in 1995.
