Who can forget Danny Boyle’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ that starred Anil Kapoor, Dev Patel and Freida Pinto and went on to win a record-breaking 8 awards at the Oscars.
But, you know what? Someone had already predicted about the victorious success of the Danny Boyle film. It’s none other than Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor who is all set to make a splash in B-Town with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Mirzya’ opposite Saiyami Kher.
Here’s what Anil Kapoor said, “When Danny Boyle approached me for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, I wasn’t sure if I should have done the film as I had been in this industry for 38 years and international projects would keep coming to me. Harsh was the first to read the script as he’s a big fan of Danny and he pushed me to do the film. When I met Danny, I asked him for an autograph for Harsh and he gifted me a DVD of ‘Trainspotting’ with his autograph for my son and wrote on it, ‘Thank you Harsh, for convincing your dad.” It was Harsh who had predicted that ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ would win many Oscars. I was even skeptical about doing the father’s role in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ and Zoya Akhtar kept pursuing me. Every time Zoya would come to our third floor apartment, Harsh would step out of his bedroom in his pyjamas and tell me that I had to do the film.”
Well, it only means that the young lad is a keen observer of good cinema and we are only hoping for his debut film ‘Mirzya’ to work its magic on the box office, so we get to see more and more of his acting panache.
