Gully Boy: Ranveer Singh starts rapping with Divine and we can’t keep calm

Well we aren’t sure when his ‘Padmavati’ will release, but we surely know that Ranveer Singh has begun working on his next film. The handsome hunk is going to step into the shoes of a rapper for his next titled ‘Gully Boy’ helmed by Zoya Akhtar. As we have reported earlier, ‘Gully Boy’ is apparently inspired by a story of Naved Shaikh (Naezy), hailing from Mumbai slums, who went on to become famous as a rapper along with a friend named Divine.

Now, Divine and Naezy are the ones helping Ranveer prepare for this role. In fact, Divine has also rapped for a song along with Ranveer Singh. Don’t believe us? Watch the video below.

Though the voice is on mute (to avoid the song getting leaked), but we surely know that something amazing is in the offering. Apart from being a fabulous actor, Ranveer holds high passion for rapping. Looks like this film is going to serve as a platform to showcase his rapping skills. Just giving a backdrop of Divine and Naezy, both of them have an inspiring rags to riches story to be proud of. Both of them hailing from Mumbai slums went on to become International icons, all thanks to their rapping. Divine became the first Indian to rap for BBC 1 radio show while Naved became the subject of a documentary called ‘Bombay 70’, thanks to his inspiring story.

We hope Zoya Akhtar, Ranveer and Alia are able to bring out the best of this story in ‘Gully Boy’.

Meanwhile, ‘Padmavati’, also starring Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor is awaiting clarification from the Certification Board, amidst numerous protests and call for bans.
