‘Half Girlfriend’: While critics bashed it, filmmakers cashed it

I remember, earlier every Thursday or Friday, I used to open a newspaper to check out how many stars a film has received. Believe me, it was all about watching a movie after seeing the ratings the movie had received. But, that has changed now, people do read reviews, however whether to watch the film or not does not necessarily depend on the rating of a critic.

Let’s talk about the recently released flick ‘Half Girlfriend’. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film had a fresh pairing of Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor, good songs and great promotions. But then as soon as the reviews of the film started coming, we all were quite confused if the film will be able to sustain at the box office. However, the movie received a fantastic opening, and in just four days it has collected around Rs 35 crore which is commendable. After ‘Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion’ none of the films were able to get a good opening, but ‘Half Girlfriend’ changed the trend. Well, let’s not move away from the topic. ‘Half Girlfriend’ is a perfect example of ‘audiences want to watch this film’. Despite getting bad reviews, the movie is having a good run at the box office. While critics bashed it, the filmmakers cashed it.
