Hansal Mehta’s ‘Simran’ starring Kangana Ranaut failed to make a mark at the box office and received a mixed response from the critics as well. The filmmaker says though he was expecting polarised reaction to the film, he also feels that history will be kinder to his directorial.
Mehta told variety.com, “I was expecting a polarised reaction and it is not any different from the way my second feature ‘Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar’ was received when it released in 2000.”
“Some films and their intent are often understood much after all the hype and noise dies down. I do feel ‘Simran’ will be ultimately seen for what it is, an interesting character study of a young girl who is unapologetically reckless and flawed. History will be kinder to ‘Simran’,” he added.
Well, the director is now busy with the promotions of his next titled ‘Omerta’ which stars Rajkummar Rao in the lead role. The film was recently at the premiere of the movie at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). The movie will also be screened at Jia MAMI Film Festival.
