Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has yet again put ‘nepotism’ in the spotlight. There have been debate and outrage on social media slamming the star kids and the producers or filmmakers for encouraging their kids or kin to be on top of the industry and not letting in or flourish the outsiders.
Filmmaker Hansal Mehta and his son were also targeted. One user wrote, “We protest against your son getting the first step first break so easily. Well begun is half done. Outsiders don’t get that break. You are gaining up and controlling the money in the Indian film industry.”
Fed up of the trolling, Hansal tweeted, “All you idiots trolling me about nepotism and my son – I’ve come up the hard way and am proud of it. My son does not depend on me for his work. I depend on him. Like I depend on @RajkummarRao. And more than 50+ talents that began their careers with me and are doing very well(sic)”.
In another tweet, he wrote that he takes pride in the success of the talents, love them like as he loves his kids and friends.

Earlier Hansal said that nepotism debate must be broadened. He said that his son has been ‘integral’ part of his works because he is ‘talented’, ‘disciplined’ and ‘hardworking’. He also said that he will work with him not because he is his son but because his son deserves to make films.
