Lata Mangeshkar the Nightingale of Bollywood is celebrating her 86th birthday today. Born in the prestigious Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar family she has been the voice of a number of beautiful actresses on screen. Lata is the eldest among her siblings that consists of Hridayanath Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar, Meena Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.

Lata Mangeshkar has been bestowed with many a prestigious awards such as Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, Bharat Ratna, 3 National Awards and some Bollywood awards. The legend, has ruled the golden period of Indian cinema music for almost seven decades now. She is one of the very few people with whom many generations can connect.
Lata Mangeshkar, has recorded songs for over a thousand Hindi films and has sung in over 36 regional and foreign languages. She is the most sought-after singer by top filmmakers.
