’83: Harrdy Sandhu to play Madan Lal and Saqib Saleem to play Mohinder Amarnath

Filmmaker Kabir Khan always has something novel to offer to his audience. And ever since he has announced his film 83′ everyone is just curious as well excited about this sports drama that will chronicle the journey of the Indian cricket team’s historic World Cup Win in 1983. With every passing day, a new member of the film’s cast is being announced. Now two more handsome hunks have joined the film’s cast.

As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, Saqib Saleem and singing sensation Harrdy Sandhu will be playing all rounders Mohinder Amarnath and Madan Lal respectively. Both the cricketers were the highest wicket-takers in the World Cup final. So while Ranveer Singh will be playing the team’s caption as he is stepping into the shoes of Kapil Dev, Saqib will be the vice caption.

Interestingly this film will mark the Bollywood debut of Harrdy who already enjoys a great fan-following owing to his hit chartbuster songs like ‘Naah’ and ‘Backbone’. He has also acted in a few Punjabi films. Not many know but Harrdy has played in the under 19-team for Punjab as a fast bowler. Whereas Saqib was a state-level cricketer. So doing a film based on the Indian cricket team’s journey must be like a dream come true for both these young actors.

83′ already boast of a terrific ensemble cast comprising Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, Sahil Khattar. The shooting of the film will begin in May.
