Helen needs no introduction. She is one of the most loved stars in Bollywood. The veteran star recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Salim Khan’s son-actor Arbaaz Khan and opened up about her initial career days, relationship with Salim Khan and more.
Helen on Dharmendra being shocked
During the third episode of Arbaaz Khan’s show, The Invincibles, Helen, who married Salim Khan in 1980, when he was already married to Salma Khan, recalled the time Dharmendra was shocked to see her name on Salim’s daughter Alvira’s wedding invitation. The veteran actress got candid as she shared that when Alvira was getting married to Atul Agnihotri in 1995, Salim Khan made sure to add her name alongside his first wife Salma’s name in the wedding invitation card.
Helen told Arbaaz, “When Alvira was getting married and you all had a wedding invitation card printed and in that card he said ‘Salim Khan, Salma Khan, Helen Khan and children invite you..’ And he took it to Dharmendra ji and Dharmendra ji was shocked to see ki mera naam add kiya hai (that my name was also added)”
For the uninitiated, Salim Khan married Salma in 1964. They have three sons – Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail Khan and two beautiful daughters – Alvira and Arpita Khan. Helen shares good bond with each one of them.
Helen on relationship with Salim Khan
During the conversation, Helen also opened up about her relationship with Salim and said, “Knowing your father, everyone knows him, he is a generous, just fair and very compassionate person. In those days he must have heard of me going through a lot of court cases and all that because of that he gave me a role in Imaandaar, then Dostana, Don and then we became friends. I used to come over, mommy (Salma) was very nice and then things have been tough even at that point and for mom. I never ever wanted a separation from the family.”
The veteran star further added, “I would never have stayed on I couldn’t take that and of course, a lot of credit goes to mom. She must have gone through a lot at that time, I’m 100% sure of it but again I think destiny brought me close to all of you and I must thank all of you.”
