Hema Malini REVEALS why she and Dharmendra have been living in separate houses

Veteran actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini have been married for 43 years now. The couple tied the knot in 1980 and since then they have come a long way. The two have had a different way of growing together as a family. Dharmendra was already married to Prakash Kaur after which he changed his religion to take Hema Malini as his second wife. In a recent interview, Hema Malini opened up about living separately from her husband Dharmendra.

Lehren Retro interviewed the veteran actress who discussed how people praised her as a feminist for choosing to live separately from her husband, Dharmendra, and raise her daughters on her own. She emphasized she has never regretted the decision to stay seperately in their lives.

Describing how this situation naturally unfolded, she shared, “Nobody wants to be like that; it happens. Automatically, what happens, you have to accept. Otherwise nobody will feel like they want to live their life like this. Every woman wants to have a husband, children, like a normal family. But somewhere, it went out of the way… I am not feeling bad about it, or sulking about it. am happy with myself. I have my two children, and I have brought them up very well.”

Further in the interview, Hema Malini shared insights into the fatherly role played by her husband, Dharmendra, for their daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. She said, “I have my two children, they are brought up very well and he is always there. That is the best part, he is always there. Actually he was worried, shaadi hona chaiye bachchon ka (kids should get married). I said hoga. When the time is right, the right person will come around. With the blessings of god and guru ma, everything happened.”

Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s blended family

Recently, Dharmendra’s grandson Karan Deol tied the knot with Drisha Acharya. Dharmendra’s first marriage was to Prakash Kaur, with whom he has sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, as well as daughters Ajieta and Vijeta. From his second marriage with Hema Malini, they have daughters Esha and Ahana.
