Hepatitis’ B came to me accidentally, says Amitabh Bachchan

All Amitabh Bachchan fans go weak at their knees when they recollect the time of him getting injured on the sets of ‘Coolie.’ The famous action scene between Big B and Puneet Issar in Manmohan Desai’s film ‘Coolie’ landed this superstar in a hospital, wherein he had to undergo a complex surgery. It was one shocking incident, which his fans will never forget and so will this megastar.

At a recent event, Amitabh Bachchan recollected the incident and revealed few unfortunate happenings which followed this near fatal accident, that made this accident even worse than it actually was. After he underwent a surgery to stop his internal bleeding, Big B contracted Hepatitis B. He said that Hepatitis B came to him accidentally.

Due to the immense amount of blood loss, senior Bachchan was then infused with 60 bottles of blood, which were donated to him by almost 200 people. Unfortunately, one of the donors was carrying the Hepatitis B virus and that’s how he got infected with this deadly disease. That’s not all. Big B went further and informed his fans that it’s because of this virus that he now has to live with a liver which functions only 25% in totality.

It’s been more than 30 years since the time Amitabh Bachchan suffered this deadly incident, but he is still standing strong with millions of fans following him. It’s only due to his strong will to live followed by the unconditional love showered to him by his fans, that’s made this superstar survive against all the odds. Live Long Mr. Bachchan!
