The man who gave us legendary characters like Raju, Shyam and Baburao, is no more. Sadly, filmmaker-actor Neeraj Vora, who had been in coma after suffering from a brain stroke, passed away this morning at 4 am, in Andheri. Vora was 54 and had been in the state of coma for the past ten months.

The actor had been on a business trip when he suffered a massive cardiac arrest, leaving him in this state, and was later on moved into the home of Firoz Nadiadwala, who did not want the filmmaker and his friend to be alone at this stage of his life. One whole room, replete with the posters of Vora’s movies, along with a 24-hour nurse, was transformed into a happier and lighter version of ICU for him.
Neeraj had been an integral part of the film fraternity. The man was not just the one who wrote a cult movie like ‘Hera Pheri’, but was also a fine actor and had been a part of many hit films like ‘Welcome’ ‘Bol Bachchan’, ‘Mann’ and more, wherein he played pivotal roles and tickled us with his perfect comic timing. Remember the legendary mad-man act of his in Aamir Khan’s ‘Mann’, where he played his best friend and was traumatised that his casanova best friend had broken up with his rich girlfriend for he had fallen in love?
Your presence will be missed, sir. May you finally rest in peace.
