The unusual love story in ‘Piku’ had melted our hearts; and so did Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan, with their spectacular performances. The two are soon reuniting for a Vishal Bhardwaj production. Although a love story, this one is pretty different in its flavour.
The yet untitled film is to be directed by Honey Trehan. Trehan has earlier worked as an assistant director in films like ‘Omkara’, ‘Kaminey’ and ‘Udta Punjab.
“Launching him as a director after Abhishek Chaubey gives me deep joy. He will make a fine director. Deepika has been asking me to write a script for her for a long time. She heard this script and loved it. We are in an advance stage of discussion with her,” Bhardwaj told Indian Express. Reportedly, Deepika will play the female mafia Rahima Khan, popularly referred to as Sapna didi. Irrfan, on the other hand, will play a local gangster who falls in love with her.
The film has been inspired by one of the chapters from a book titled ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ penned by former investigative journalist S Hussain Zaidi.
