It would have been the clash of the titans if Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Raees’ and Salman Khan starrer ‘Sultan’ would have released on the same day. For the uninitiated, both the films were slated to release on Eid this year, however the SRK starrer was postponed. SRK, recently at the Eid celebrations revealed that why the clash was averted.
The superstar said, “We have two reasons (for not releasing ‘Raees’ with ‘Sultan’). One is, Salman and I have talked about it that big films have their own level release wise. They should get released in at least 3500 to 4000 theatres at one time. We all have faced it at a certain point of time that two big films came together and didn’t get the theatrical release we wanted. The film’s budget, perhaps, can’t afford to not release in 4000 theatres. Until the time we have eight to nine thousand theatres for the release of two big films, this cannot happen.”
“Second part was, I was injured and there are still body shots and some parts that I still have to shoot for a day. But the film is ready. We thought of an alternate date in this year. But some other big film was coming then. It was like we say from the frying pan into the fire; we would release it from some other film. So, we have discussed with Hrithik (Roshan) for ‘Kaabil’ because they just started shooting. Hopefully, we will come next year on January 25 or 26. We still have time and I haven’t given the last shot yet,” he added.
‘Raees’ marks the debut of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
