Here’s why Karan Johar decided to cast Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma together in ‘ADHM’

Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma’s chemistry in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is absolutely intense. The charm of them together is not that old, as we did get a taste of their chemistry in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bombay Velvet’ earlier. The film was a dud at the box office but Ranbir and Anushka’s performance were praiseworthy. And that precisely was the reason why Karan Johar decided to cast them in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.

“Had it not been for Bombay Velvet, I would have never cast Anushka and Ranbir in ADHM. Off-screen, both of them are buddies and they are super fun.They have a comfort level in their communication and body language. And in this movie, they are more entertaining than they were in Bombay Velvet. They are fun, quirky and entertaining,” Karan told a leading daily.

‘Bombay Velvet’ featured Karan as well, albeit in a negative role. This was the writer-director’s first full-fledged on-screen debut. He obviously studied both Ranbir and Anushka as co-stars from a very near distance. We wonder if he was planning ‘ADHM’ since then only!
