Here’s the secret to Katrina Kaif’s perfect Punjabi accent in ‘Baar Baar Dekho’

By now, you must have watched the video song ‘Nachde Ne Saare’ from Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra’s ‘Baar Baar Dekho’. Apart from Katrina’s killer thumkas, what really drew our attention was how perfectly she was lip-syncing with the Punjabi lyrics. Kat was almost infamous for her westernised Hindi pronunciation. We wondered how she got Punjabi so right, but the secret is out now!

Singer Jasleen Royal turned great help for Katrina as she taught her to pronounce Punjabi correctly. “I remember recording and e-mailing the details and pronunciation of several words in the song to help Katrina understand the Punjabi words better,” Jasleen said.

“Translating ‘khasmanukhane’ and ‘aloo bade karaare’ was quite funny. Every time I tried teaching her pronunciation of the latter, everyone on the sets would just crack up,” she laughed.

Jasleen has lent her voice to this song and is super happy to have Katrina dancing to the tunes!
