Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal are all set to be seen together for the first time on screen for Laxman Utekar’s next. The first glimpse of it that was shared by the actors on social media, had created quite an intrigue amongst the audiences to see these two youngsters together. But even before they started work on this film, Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal were reported to be starring together in Aditya Dhar’s superhero drama, The Immortal Ashwatthama. While Vicky was announced as the leading man along with the poster, the leading lady was never officially announced.

The Immortal Ashwatthama then got shelved and now reports suggest that it has been revived with a new heroine and the reason for Sara leaving the film has also surfaced. According to a report in India Today, Sara opted out of the film after its revival as the script was also revised for that. A source told, “After the film was indefinitely pushed and between revival, the script has been revised as well. While the earlier script demanded a young girl to be cast, Sara was on board. However, with the dates clashing and the change of role, it was no longer doable. The script in its current state needs a slightly older actress to be cast opposite Vicky. Hence, now the makers are looking at other options.”

As for after the revival, the name that has been doing the rounds as the leading lady of the film is Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s. Talking about Vicky still being a part of the film, the source added, “Today, it is the story that matters, not the stars. Vicky has a stronghold and credibility with the audience, so there is no doubt of him being recast. In fact, pre-production for the film has already begun. Since the film is mounted on a huge scale, the makers are spending nearly 8-10 months on pre-production to ensure everything is in place and ready.”

It was during his appearance on Koffee With Karan 7 this year that Vicky had broken silence on The Immortal Ashwatthama being shelved. He had said, “When I got the news, I called my gym instructor and told him, let me do the most difficult workout session because I really want to vent!” But latest reports suggest that the film is now ready to go on the floors next summer.
