The recently released trailer of Raveena Tandon-starrer ‘Maatr‘, which also happens to be the actress’ comeback film, revolves around the crime against women in our society and has been garnering huge praises from the viewers and critics alike.
However, the Bombay High Court has now granted a stay on the release of ‘Maatr’ as the producer, Anjum Rizvi, is still to pay his dues to YT Capital Pvt Ltd. The order for the same was passed by Justice Gautam Patel on Thursday against Rizvi and T-Series. (Also Read: ‘Maatr’ and ‘MOM’ should not be compared, says Raveena Tandon)
He stated that the movie should not be released anywhere in the world and its prints and/or negatives also should not be released to anyone. Not just this, the court has also asked Rizvi to not sell or create any negatives of his seven previous films, ‘John Day’, ‘India Metro’, ‘A Flat’, ‘Fast Forward’, ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Ahista Ahista and Charges: A Joint Effort’.
It was earlier too in November 2015 that YT Capital had filed a case seeking repayment of Rs 2 crore paid to Rizvi in September 2014 for the movie ‘Katha’. The film however did not see the light of the day.
The order has now been passed in favour of YT Capital for recovery of Rs 2.44 crore. The case will now be heard on April 10.
‘Maatr‘ is all set to release on April 21.
