While making a film on some important event written down in the history, the filmmaker has to look that he provides full justice to the story making people aware and feel what the victims went through in that unfateful event. One such story coming up this year is the biopic made on air-hostess Neerja Bhanot titled ‘Neerja.’
The film directed by Ram Madhvani after the trailer launch release received a lot of positive reviews coming in for the filmmaker and actress Sonam Kapoor who is playing the title role of Neerja. These praises were not only coming from India but abroad as well. Recently, one citizen probably from the US wrote a letter to the makers of this movie.
The citizen named Nicole Thomas Fredrick is the daughter of one the pilots who survived this hijack situation. She wrote, “The film’s trailer brings out the intense emotions that were going on at that time. I remember everything that happened in those 48 hours and this stirred up a lot of feelings for me again. My father would only grant interviews as long as it was about the heroism of Neerja. Pilots were extensively trained to evacuate the aircraft for negotiating power. In 1986, terrorists didn’t know how to fly airplanes, so that was a bargaining tool to buy time. She did a lot to save the lives of Americans (specifically) and I will always remember that. I can’t wait to see the film. Hopefully, it will release where I live.”
Neerja Bhanot was only 23 years old when she died saving 359 people to escape from the hijacked plane.
Certainly, this is a good news for the makers to re-create the impact successfully on-screen. Hope, the movie turns out more of an inspiration amongst many youngsters showing the bravery of Neerja Bhanot.
‘Neerja’ stars Shabana Azmi playing the role of Rama Bhanot, mother of Neerja and it marks the debut of Shekhar Ravjiani from the music composer duo Vishal – Shekhar. The film is slated to release on February 12, 2016.
