Hindustani 2 trailer out! Kamal Haasan’s Senapathy fights corruption in different avatars; Siddharth commands attention

Nearly 2 decades after the first part impressed fans, director S Shankar and Kamal Haasan are back with the sequel of Indian. Titled Hindustani 2 (India 2), this part is the sequel to their 1996 cult vigilante film. And if the trailer is anything to go by, the upcoming film is high on action and patriotism and is likely to have the same impact on fans.

Starring Kamal Haasan and Siddharth in lead roles, the 2-minute, 37-second-long trailer begins with a collage of the multiple crimes and scams taking place across the country. A woman’s voiceover spells out the different issues Indians are battling – such as a lack of jobs and heavy tax burdens. Siddharth’s character then steps in and questions what people are doing to resolve it and remembers his childhood, Senapathy (Kamal Haasan). Once a powerful vigilante, Senapathy now seems to have receded to the mountains. However, he soon strikes back, going after the rich businessmen who are mismanaging and ill-treating the country and its citizens.

When Siddharth’s character tells Senapathy that he’s going against his own ideals of honesty, Haasan’s character replies that they must fight to save the country. He suggests Siddharth’s character that he can take the Gandhian way, but Senapathy will follow in the more violent footsteps of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

About Hindustani 2

Aside from Kamal Haasan, Hindustani 2 also stars Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh and Kajal Aggarwal in lead roles. Also known as Indian 2, the film sees SJ Suryah, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Brahmanandam, Vennela Kishore, Zakir Hussain, Piyush Mishra, Guru Somasundaram, Delhi Ganesh, Jayaprakash, Manobala, and Ashwini Thangaraj in supporting roles.

Produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, the film will be released on July 12, 2024. It will be available in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
