Last year, Salman Khan heaved a sigh of relief when he was acquitted from all the charges of his ‘Hit and Run Case.’ After 13 long years from the time of the incident, the Bombay High Court finally quashed all the charges charged against the star and granted him the freedom from this case. But, his troubles have not ended here. We have now learnt that Maharashtra Government is set to take this case to the Supreme Court.
According to latest reports, the Maharashtra Government is set to challenge the verdict of the Bombay High Court in the Supreme Court. By law, any verdict announced by the lower court can be challenged in the higher court. The Mahrashtra Government had already announced that they would appeal against this verdict in Supreme Court and the State Lawyers have already been the directions to challenge Salman Khan’s verdict in Supreme Court. Reports now suggest that the lawyers would file a Special Leave Petition within one week in the Supreme Court. An official was quoted saying, “The government will challenge the high court verdict on its merits. The SLP will be filed within a week’s time.”
Justice A R Joshi on December 10 had given out the vedict that the prosecution has failed to prove that Salman was behind the wheels when the incident took place. Plus, the prosecution also failed to prove that Salman was driving under the influence of alcohol. There were loopholes in the investigations which were then highlighted.
As of now, Salman is gearing up for his next big release ‘Sultan’ which is slated to hit the theatres on the ospicious day of Eid. Salman would be playing the role of the Haryanvi wrestler in the film and Anushka Sharma would play his leading lady.
