Twitterati slam Kangana Ranaut and Jim Sarbh on insensitive rape joke

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and ‘Padmaavat’ star Jim Sarbh are facing the backlash on the social media. The Duo who were seen attending the prestigious Cannes Film Festival shocked one and all when the actor cracked a controversial rape joke and the Queen actress started laughing at it.

A video is doing the rounds on social media in which Sarbh is seen cracking the insensitive joke and Kangana laughing at it.

As reported by Bollywoodlife, Jim Sarbh has reacted to the flak he is receiving and explained how he did not intend to hurt anyone and how he also considers rape as a serious issue! (Also Read: Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari to collaborate with Kangana Ranaut?)

Jim said, “First of all, I understand the environment we live in just now, in light of recent events, but more frankly, in light of events going on since the beginning of human consciousness, rape is a deadly serious issue. I treat it as such. The joke that I made is about a Priest blowing a very casual question completely out of proportion, condemning alcohol, prostitutes, and rape all simultaneously. The Punjabi (or whichever ethnicity, depending on the audience) responds to the situation by consenting to it and expressing his sexual proclivities. I personally do not find it to be about a desire to rape, or to inflict sexual violence upon another, but a subversive and comedic response to an extremely volatile sentence.”

Kangana has as yet not responded to the flak.
