Hrithik Roshan reveals being embarrassed to film The Roshans
Reflecting on the docu-series, The Roshans which will be available on Netflix starting January 17, Hrithik Roshan shared that it chronicles the stories and struggles of his family. It included his musician uncle Rajesh Roshan and late grandfather Roshan Lal Nagrath. He stated, “When my father said that he wanted to make this documentary, I first felt embarrassed. I don’t like attention. Then I realized, ‘No, this is not about me. It’s not about me at all.’ This is about history. And history is important.”
Hrithik emphasized how his family’s history has profoundly influenced him as an actor, saying, “That history was in my cells and gave me a drive… Their stories inspired me so much that I was unstoppable.”
The actor expressed his hope that the documentary would serve as an inspiration for others, especially cinema students and audiences worldwide. He remarked, “When you’re aspiring and you’re working against barriers in your life and you need inspiration, it is other people’s stories that come to the rescue. How The Roshans’ legacy lives?
The docu-series will provide an intimate look at the lives of three generations of the Roshan family. It showcases their passion, dedication, and contributions to Hindi cinema. Rakesh Roshan noted, “There are very few families in this industry where three generations have contributed, starting with my father, my generation, and Hrithik’s generation. So it will be Roshan’s contribution to the industry.”
Interestingly, while Rakesh was enthusiastic about the documentary, Rajesh initially resisted the idea. He shared, “I am in the Roshan family but I think a little differently… I am a shy person. I don’t want to show my life, which is a very simple life. But he got hold of my collar and said, ‘Sit down. Let’s start the documentary.’”
