Hrithik Roshan rejects Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boys’

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan has wrapped up his period drama ‘Mohenjo Daro’. He is now busy with Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Kaabil’ that also stars Yami Gautam. Recently Zoya Akhtar narrated a script to the ‘Bang Bang!’ actor and even though he liked the script, he declined the film. Now Zoya and Hrithik share a great rapport with each other ever since Duggu worked in her film ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, so it came as a surprise to many that he rejected the offer.

Zoya who has been planning a movie on Mumbai’s street rappers named ‘Gully Boys’, has already enrolled Bollywood’s blue eyed boy Ranveer Singh for it. But as the movie also has a parallel lead she approached Hrithik Roshan. It would have been a casting coup if the actor had accepted the role.

Sources said, “Zoya gave a script narration to Hrithik, and he loved the story. Yet, he surprisingly turned it down. In fact, another filmmaker who had approached the actor with a story is waiting to give him a narration. Hrithik has liked that story too, but hasn’t given time to the filmmaker for a narration. He has wrapped up ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and the only film he is shooting for right now is ‘Kaabil’.”

Sources added, “Looks like the actor is totally immersed in his home production and will look at other projects only after he completes it. So we won’t able to see Ranveer and Hrithik in one film for now.”

‘Gully Boys’ will have Ranveer depicting the role of rapper living in the slums of Mumbai. His rise to stardom from the slums all thanks to his songs that give out a social message.
