On August 26, the Hindi film industry woke up to the news of the death of veteran lyricist Dev Kohli. The artist passed away in the early hours of the day. He was aged 81 at the time of his passing. Some of his renowned works include Salman Khan starrer Maine Pyar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Koun.

The spokesperson of the lyricist confirmed the news of his passing to Indian Express. They said, “Kohli ji was admitted at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital for the last few months, he was not keeping well and passed away in his sleep early, on Saturday morning.”
From 2 PM onwards on Saturday, Kohli’s friends and family would be able to do his antim darshan at his Lokhandwala house in Mumbai, as per a report in India Today. The report further states that the lyricist’s last rites will take place at Oshiwara Crematorium at 6 PM. People from the fraternity including Anu Malik, Uttam Singh and Anand Raaj Anand will be coming to pay their last respects to Kohli.

Kohli ji has penned over 100 songs in Bollywood. He started his career with the 1971 film Lal Patthar starring Hema Malini. Some of his most popular works include the films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Biwi No 1. He also wrote songs for Baazigar, Ishq, Kaante and more. Chalti Hai Kya Nau Se Baarah from Judwaa and O Saki Saki from Musafir are some of the chartbusters that the late artist had penned.
