Actor Huma Qureshi is all set to star in Double XL with Sonakshi Sinha where she talks about body shaming and the struggles of having excessive weight. As the movie is set to release soon, Huma, in a recent interview, talks about beauty standards and how people consider beauty based on their weight.
“The point of me wanting to produce a film like Double XL was to shatter notions of how weight is equated with beauty and desirability. When I was all set to play a femme fatale, why was I succumbing to the rules made by society and not feeling beautiful in my own skin? I have realised that feeling and looking sexy is not because of the clothes you wear or because somebody weighs a certain weight,” said Huma, according to a Zee News report.
Moreover, the Dedh Ishqiya actor blames patriarchy and society for having fake beauty standards for others. Huma Qureshi said, “It’s all about feeling confident and believing that one can look glamorous if one feels glamorous. Patriarchy and society condition us into believing that a girl who weighs a certain weight is not beautiful or glamorous. It’s high time we do away with these notions,” adding, “Also, I felt that since I was from an industry where glamour is an essential aspect of the profession, the message coming from me might help other girls who obsess over their weight feel differently about themselves.”

Meanwhile, Huma penned a heartfelt long note on her Instagram where she revealed how Double XL actually happened. A part of her note read, “This story found more and more friends in the following months as well as partners as we chugged along on this journey. This is a film written and made with a lot of love. A big thank you to everyone who joined us on the Double XL Dream and made this a reality.”
Double XL starring Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha will release on 4th Nov 2022.
