Recently, actress Payal Ghosh accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of #MeToo. She claimed that a few years back Anurag tried to sexually assault her. While narrating her ordeal she also dragged names of Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi and others.
Huma issued a statement today defending the filmmaker with whom she worked in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ series.
In the statement, Huma wrote, “Anurag and I last worked together in 2012-13 and he is a dear friend and an extremely talented director. In my personal experience and to my knowledge he has neither misbehaved with me or anyone else. However, anyone who claims to be abused must report it to the authorities, the police and the judiciary.”
She further wrote, “I feel really angry at being dragged into this mess. I feel angry not just for myself but also every woman whose years of hard work and struggles get reduced to such baseless conjecture and allegations in their workplace. It is the joint responsibility of women and men both to carefully protect the sanctity of #MeToo.”
Huma also wrote that this is her ‘final response’ and she requested not to approch her for ‘any statement’ on the matter.

Richa Chadha whose name was also mentioned by Payal, had sent a legal notice to the latter. Also, Anurag’s ex-wives, Aarti Bajaj and Kalki Koechlin also issued statements in favour of Anurag. Anurag’s friends from the fraternity like Taapsee Pannu, Anubhav Sinha, Hansal Mehta and others have also supported the filmmaker.
