Imran Khan REVEALS reason behind his divorce from ex-wife Avantika; says, ‘We were not in that place’

Despite actor Imran Khan having quit Bollywood, fans are eagerly waiting for his return since he hinted at the same. Though we are yet to see his comeback, Imran Khan spoke about his ex-wife Avantika while revealing the reason behind his divorce. Speaking to India Today, Imran revealed that his marriage was not helping him with all of the baggage and his internal struggle.

Imran Khan reveals why he got separated

The Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na actor said, “Without going too much into that part, because I’m hesitant to add a lot of fuel to the gossip fire. But as I was dealing with all of this baggage and all my internal struggle, I did find that my marriage and my relationship were not helping any of that.”

He further continued, “In an ideal, healthy dynamic between two people, you are both making each other better, healthier, stronger, and supporting each other to be the healthiest, best, strongest version. We were not in that place.”

Avantika and Imran got married in 2011 and became parents to a daughter, Imara. However, the separation rumours circulated in 2019. In one of the interviews, Imran Khan confirmed that he had opted for a divorce from Avantika in February 2019.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan has been dating his girlfriend Lekha Washington for a while now. She was also seen attending sister Ira Khan’s wedding. Confirming his relationship with Lekha in March this year, Imran said, “Lekha and I grew close during the lockdown. A year and a half after I had been separated from Avantika. And almost a year after she had separated from her partner.”
