“I’m watching death threats pour in from people saying that they want to kill me and hurt my family. People have invaded my mother’s clinic posing as patients. I’m feeling scared and I don’t know what to do. But I’m not running away,” Allahbadia wrote. “My team and I are cooperating with the police and all other authorities. I will follow due process and be available to all agencies. My remark about parents was insensitive and disrespectful. It is my moral responsibility to do better and I am genuinely sorry.”

Background to the Controversy

Comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent’ featured Ranveer Allahbadia, who made some contentious comments about parents and sex. These remarks sparked a massive backlash, with several people complaining to the police. The Khar police have been unable to contact Allahbadia, as his phone remains switched off.

Earlier, it was reported that Samay Raina has been given time until March 10 to appear before the police and record a statement. The Khar police went to Allahbadia’s flat in the Versova area but found it locked. Eight people, including Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchalani, and Ranveer’s manager, have already recorded their statements with the police.

The Maharashtra Cyber has also summoned at least 50 people. It includes those who participated in the show, to record their statements in connection with the case. On Thursday, actor and film personality Raghu Ram, who was a judge on Samay’s show, recorded his statement with the agency.
