Ayushmann Khurrana calls India ‘homophobic’ as he reflects on Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’s box office collection

Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor starrer Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui was released in December last year. Ayushmann and Vaani starrer was directed by Abhishek Kapoor. The film didn’t do well at the box office. The actor was later seen in Anek. And unfortunately, it didn’t do great in numbers at the BO. Ayushmann was last seen opposite Rakul Preet Singh in Doctor G. The film received mixed reactions from the audience. Ayushmann Khurrana, who is currently busy promoting his upcoming film, An Action Hero, reflected on his last releases and their performance at the box office.

Aayushmann on Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui Box-Office

While talking to the media, as reported by OTT play, Ayushmann said, “I started with movies on taboo subjects. I suppose the type of subjects – it has to be a community viewing, and it has to have a wider film, including an LGBTO film (Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui), really don’t do well commercially because, unfortunately, our country is homophobic.”

The actor went on to add, “Then there was Anek, a docudrama that was a very niche in terms of the tone of the film. Doctor G was an A-rated film, and given the kind of certification it got, the film did decently well in theatres. For a while, that was my learning for making a film.”

Coming to his upcoming film, An Action Hero, it also stars Jaideep Ahlawat. The trailer was released a few days ago and it received a good response. Ayushmann recently dropped a song from An Action Hero featuring Nora Fatehi. Ayushmann and Nora show off their killer dance moves in Jehda Nasha. The duo’s chemistry is winning fans’ hearts.

An Action Hero is slated to release on December 2, 2022.

Apart from this, Ayushmann also has Dream Girl 2 with Ananya Panday.
