On April 29, Irrfan Khan passed away in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital due to a colon infection. He was ailing ever since he was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour two years back. Irrfan was a big name not only in Bollywood but he also featured in many British and American films like ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘Life of Pi’, ‘Jurrasic World’ and ‘Inferno’ among others.
Not only the Bollywood industry but also Hollywood celebs like Angelina Jolie, Natalie Portman, Colin Trevorrow and others paid tributes to the late actor.
As per reports, Irfan Khan has left many assets for his family. Reportedly, he has 320 crores of property. It is said that he used to charge up to Rs 15 crore for a film. Apart from this, he used to earn a handsome amount from advertisements. It is reported that he used to charge around Rs 5 crore for an advertisement. He also used to take profit shares of movies besides fees. He had a flat in Juhu.
In his career of over 30 years, Irrfan Khan had done almost all genres of movies. He received numerous awards, including a National Film Award and Filmfare Awards in four different categories. In 2011, he was even awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor.
Starting his career from television was not easy for Irrfan. In 2001, Irrfan got the lead role in ‘The Warrior,’ which was screened in international film festivals. This made him a well-known face. His movies like ‘Maqbool’, ‘Rog,’ and ‘Haasil’, ‘Life in a Metro’, ‘Hindi Medium’, ‘Lunchbox’, earned him both name and fame. His last movie was ‘Angrezi Medium’.
Irrfan’s death has left a void in the Indian cinema. The industry has lost a gem. The actor is survived by his wife Sutapa Sikdar and two sons-Ayaan and Babil.
