Actor Irrfan Khan‘s upcoming release ‘Madaari’ is a film based on the incident of  2012 Andheri-Kurla metro bridge collapse in Mumbai. The incident resulted in a number of casualties with many people being injured. During a conversation with Indian Express, Khan was asked the motive behind picking up such a subject. The intention was to encourage people to ask questions, he answered,
“The intention was also to ask questions, such as ‘where would a common man go when something goes wrong, even though there are various departments?’ Our judiciary is so overloaded,” Irrfan Khan said.
“There are many instances of our sticking to the laws that were made decades ago. As a country, we have to ask questions collectively to bring change. Sometimes, you have a story that you wish to reflect on through cinema although you are not an activist,” he added.
The film features Khan as a helpless father who has lost his child in the incident and is still seeking an answer to what happened.
Directed by Nishikant Kamat, ‘Madaari’ hits the screens on July 15, 2016.
