Mahira Khan, being the first Pakistani actress to have bagged a film opposite Shah Rukh Khan, was disheartened when she was kept away from the promotions of ‘Raees’. As professional as she is, Mahira surely had dreamt of coming down to India and promoting the film alongside the superstar she revered. However, following the ban on Pakistani artistes in India, it was never materialised.
However, once the film crossed the 100-crore mark in Indian box office, the makers arranged a press conference wherein Mahira joined the journalists through video chat. (Also Read: This is how Shah Rukh and Mahira Khan learned Garba for ‘Raees’)
She also spoke to a few Indian journalists at length about her career, motherhood, her favourite Bollywood actors and more. While conversing with DNA, she shared how being a mother as well as a working woman was something rare in Pakistan.
“I do only one film at a time. My first priority is my child. So it’s a lot of hard work. But it can be done. It’s all about choices. Many times I have to let go of good work. Fortunately the work I’ve done has worked for me,” Mahira said.
“I am an anomaly in my country. I hope in the coming years, there will be more women like me,” she added.
For those uninitiated, Mahira was married to Ali Askari and they together have a son.
