Last year, reports of Karan Johar planning to make a biopic on flight lieutenant Gunjan Saxena hit headlines. Though the filmmaker had not announced who he planned to cast, he confirmed that he would produce the film. It was later that rumours abounded of Alia Bhatt bagging the role. But as per a latest report in Quint, it is not the ‘Raazi’ star, but Janhvi Kapoor who is all set to depict the role of first woman IAF chopper pilot.
The web portal has shared an exclusive picture of Janhvi Kapoor posing with Gunjan Saxena. Apparently the ‘Dhadak’Â star is already prepping for her role and has spent a few days with the lieutenant to learn the nitty-gritty of being an IAF pilot.

The KJo-produced biopic does not have have a title or director attached as of now.
If reports of Janhvi bagging the biopic comes true then this will be her third film with Dharma Productions after her debut film ‘Dhadak’ that hit the theaters in July this year and went on to be a blockbuster. She also has period drama ‘Takht’ that features Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and many others. The latter will go on floors in the mid of 2019.
For the uninitiated, Gunjan is one of the first Indian women to fly a chopper. In 1999, she evacuated injured Indian soldiers from Kargil. Gunjan and her fellow flight lieutenant Srividya Rajan had faced enemy fire to bring the soldiers home. Gunjan belongs to a family of army personnel. Her husband, too, is an IAF chopper pilot. She was part of the first ever batch of women pilots trained by the IAF and was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for her work.
