Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter may be the new kids in B-Town, but they sure have their opinions and don’t mind voicing them in the open. The ‘Dhadak’ actors were recently asked about their views on the LGBT community and the newbies had something to say on it.
The LGBT community had been waiting for a verdict by the Supreme Court on Section 377. People stay divided on the subject but a number of people have come in support of the community and it includes celebrities. In an interview with Times Of India, Janhvi and Ishaan shared their view.
Janhvi told TOI, “I think everyone should have the freedom to love because love is such a pure and sacred emotion, I believe that everyone does what they do in search of love. So I don’t see why their love should be compartmentalised, generalised or made into something bitter. Everyone deserves the freedom to love who they want to love.”
Ishaan too had an opinion to give. He said, “I feel that any kind of a discrimination, be it on the basis of caste or class and sexuality is a form of hate and the film ‘Dhadak’, that we are so deeply involved in is, in a larger sense has an overline message talking about the power of love over hatred and we all believe in that. It is high time that we go out there and talk about this openly and discourage people who propagate hatred.”
Janhvi then added, “And also eradicate the stigma that’s attached with homosexuality. I think there’s a lot of people are still scared to support homosexuality. I mean, the community just needs love and acceptance.”
