Veteran actor Jaya Bachchan opened up about why she schools paps often saying ‘Aapko sharam nahi aati hai’ as they click her. The actress said she feels ‘very strongly’ about the media stereotyping celebrities. Bachchan spoke her mind out during an interaction with her granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda, on her podcast, What The Hell Navya Jaya. She revealed why she feels disgusted by the media.
During the interaction, the veteran actor mentioned she hates it when people interfere in her personal life and despises it. She said, “I hate it. I despise it. I despise the people who interfere in your personal life and fill their stomachs by selling those products. I hate it, I’m disgusted with such people. I always tell them, I say, ‘Aapko sharam nahi aati hai (Don’t you feel ashamed?)’.”
When her granddaughter asked if Jaya knew that this would happen when she decided to become an actor, Bachchan said she never ‘catered to it’ and also never ‘endorsed it’. The actor added, “Because people who see they see it for a second and then move on. They’re onto something else.”
Jaya also spoke about trolls at length. She said she doesn’t give a ‘damn’. The actress said, “You have opinion about them personally, you have opinion about the work they do I understand. You criticise it, you cut it into pieces I accept. You can say, ‘She is a bad actor, a bad parliamentarian’ but you have no business sitting on judgment of my personal character. ‘She only knows how to get angry’. Angry about what? You’re intruding, interfering in my personal when I’m walking somewhere, you’re taking my picture. Why? Am I not a human being?”
Speaking further, Bachchan said how videos of celebrities are misused to be put on different platforms. “What they take and what they put out are two different things. So you have the freedom to do it, what about my freedom?”
Meanwhile, it was only recently when Bachchan made it to the news for telling a paps ‘serves you right’ after he tumbled upon. Before that, she made headlines for schooling fans who tried to take photos of Abhishek Bachchan in a temple.
Work-wise, the veteran actor is all set to make her acting comeback with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is directed by Karan Johar and features Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh among others, in key roles.
