Movie buffs will surely know that Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani contains the right amount of nostalgia. From classic Hindi songs to iconic dialogues, the Karan Johar directorial has hit the right chords with netizens. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer RRKPK contains iconic songs like Aaja Meri Gaadi Me Baith Jaa, Abhi Naa Jao Chod Kar, and Aap Jaisa Koi which raised the excitement level for the film even more.

Though these songs are iconic, did you know that there are some classic references attached to the film too? Well, yes, Jaya Bachchan had a dialogue that says, “Keh diya naa, bas keh diya,” which was spoken by Amitabh Bachchan in one of the most loved movies, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

Karan Johar reveals Jaya Bachchan’s iconic dialogue was not scripted

Speaking with BBC Asian Network, Karan Johar said that Jaya Bachchan’s sequence when she delivers the dialogue, was one of the most applauded moments in the film. Further, he has revealed that the dialogue was not scripted.

It so happened during the film’s shoot when Jaya Bachchan said, “Bas keh diya”. This was the moment when director Karan Johar planned to inculcate the dialogue and improvise it. The director said, “I was like, ‘Got it. You have to say, ‘Keh diya na bas keh diya’. She (Jaya) was like, ‘What are you saying? Then we decided on the spot, it wasn’t designed earlier. It just came on the set, and I thought, ‘Who better than Jaya Bachchan mouthing that line?’.”

Well, not just this, he also accepted that the hand-holding scene during the funeral was a total copy of the K3G moment. Though a few scenes here and there are taken from the classics, we can’t help but agree on the fact that those scenes hit us with nostalgia, and we totally loved the connections they created.

Speaking about the film’s success, the Ranveer-Alia starrer has jolted the box office as well as the audience, as it has already crossed Rs. 105 crores domestically and Rs. 210 crores at the global box office.
