On June 3, 2013, headlines were all about Jiah Khan’s death. The actress’s body was found hanging from the ceiling in her apartment. Later, a suicide note was discovered wherein she had made shocking revelations about her relationship with Sooraj Pancholi. Jiah’s mother then filed a case against Sooraj Pancholi accusing him of murdering her daughter.
A latest update on this case states that the High Court has ordered the lower court to continue with the trial proceedings against Sooraj Pancholi. Rabia Khan had filed a petition seeking the appointment of advocate Dinesh Tiwari as special public prosecutor, bringing a halt to the proceedings. She does not want the CBI’s personnel to conduct the trial on behalf of the prosecution. CBI in its earlier report had ruled out the possibility of murder and had concluded in their charge-sheet that the actress had committed suicide. But a division bench of Justices R M Savant and Sandeep Shinde have ordered to not put a stay on the trial proceedings. “We make it clear that proceedings in the trial court not stayed. The trial can go on against the accused person,” is what the division bench said as per a report in PTI.
We now await the decision of the lower court post the trial.
Sooraj Pancholi made his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Hero’ but then his career could not take off as well as it was expected. He has now bagged his second film which is being helmed by Prabudheva. It’s a dance drama and Sooraj is expected to learn quite a few dancing forms for this film.
