Actress Jiah Khan committed suicide by hanging herself at her Juhu home in Mumbai. The shocking incident took place on June 3, 2013. Actor Sooraj Pancholi who was her boyfriend at that time was charged with abetment to suicide back then. He was currently out on bail. However, 10 years later, the CBI Court pronounced the actor not guilty in the Jiah Khan case.

A special CBI court in Mumbai has announced the Jiah Khan verdict and found Sooraj Pancholi not guilty in the Jiah Khan suicide case. “Due to paucity of evidence, this court can’t hold you (Sooraj Pancholi) guilty, hence acquitted,” says Judge AS Sayyed of the special CBI court in Mumbai.

In 2013, actress Jiah Khan was found dead in her Juhu apartment. Sooraj Pancholi son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was allegedly in a relationship with Jiah. Rabia Khan, Jiah’s mother had alleged that her daughter was murdered. She moved the High Court seeking a CBI probe.
Sooraj was booked by the Mumbai police based on a letter written by Jiah Khan, being seized on June 10, 2013. Sooraj was charged with abetment to suicide but later he was granted bail. On January 31, 2018, a Mumbai court officially charged Pancholi with abetting Khan’s suicide, under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code.
Sooraj, in his final statement in the court, had claimed that the investigation and chargesheet were false. He further claimed that the prosecution witnesses had testified against him on the behest of complainant Rabia, police and CBI. He denied the charges and pleaded innocence.
