Now, he is all set to deliver a heart-wrenching performance with his next, Jogi, as the recently released trailer of the film promises a goosebump-inducing story and performances.

Jogi is set in the Delhi from the ’80s, in the backdrop of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots that were fuelled by the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. The trailer of Jogi shows Diljit Dosanjh as a Sikh man in Delhi who lives with his family when one day, he saw the emergence of riots against his community. He has to cut his hair to prevent himself from getting killed by the angry mob. How he and his two friends, played by Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub and Paresh Pahuja, fight for the survival of their community by planning the biggest human heist to move them to Mohali, forms the crux of the story.

For the performances in the film, Diljit is at the top of his game as he portrays the innocence, agony, anger and sadness of his character quite effectively. His eyes are piercing and keep you hooked to them. The actor is a known bonafide artist and with this film, he seems to have taken his level up a notch. He makes you feel the emotions of Jogi’s journey and you can’t help but feel for him. Amyra Dastur plays Diljit’s lover, and she brings in the charisma the character demands.

Zeeshan is no stranger to giving great performances and this one promises to be another one on that list, and his equation with Diljit and Paresh will surely be a highlight of the film. Jogi is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, who has also written the film with Sukhmani Sadana and produced it with Himanshu Kishan Mehra. The film will release as a Netflix original on September 16 and if the trailer is something to go by, Jogi will surely be a moving story that will leave the audience with tears in their eyes and a lump in their throats.
